who was born 20 Oct 1921 at Castalia, IA. She was the daughter of Edwin and Agnes Moen Ginapp. Her father Edwin Ginapp was born 19 Jun 1900 at Ossian, IA, Frankville Twp. and her mother Agnes Moen Ginapp was born 23 Jan 1900, Ossian. They were married at Castalia 22 Dec 1920. IvaNell Ginapp Lang had one sister, Judith Ginapp Fields, who lives in Eden Prairie, MN.

Forrest and IvaNell were married 15 Jun 1942 at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, Decorah, IA. They had 3 children: Kelly, Charlene and Scott.

Kelly, the oldest son  went to school at Decorah, IA and was married to Susan Bakken 16 Apr 1966 at First Lutheran Church in Cresco, IA. Susan was born, Kelly entered the service 9 June 1966, trained at Rhode Island for the Navy Sea Bees UTA2 Utilities Refrigeration Unit E5, and served in Vietnam twice at Chu Lai, Hue, Phu Bai and the Tet Offensive. He returned to the United States and was discharged 5 May 1968. Kelly is now part owner of Lang’s Dairy Equipment Inc. Kelly and Susan have 3 children: Kimberly, James and Darlene. Kimberly. Kimberly has one son Dustin. James  married Jennifer Cannady 12 Sep 1992 in Decorah. Darlene is presently going to college. All three of Kelly and Susan’s children graduated from Decorah High School.

Charlene Lang (b. Waterloo, IA) went to school in Decorah. Char attended 2 years at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, IA. After college she lived in Madison, Wl and worked at the Dane County Colliseum. Later she made a career move to St. Paul, MN where she worked for the 3M Company. She married Richard Theis 10 May 1975 in Decorah at First Lutheran Church. Richard is an executive with the 3M Company in St. Paul, MN. After marriage Char quit her job with 3M. Char and Richard Theis have five teenage sons: Justin, Chad , Jason , Mark and Bryan. Char keeps busy with cooking, baking, washing and cleaning. When time allows she enjoys her Norwegian rosemaling for which she has a special talent. Char and Richard Theis and their five sons live at Hammond, Wl.

Scott was (b. at Decorah) went to school in Decorah. Scott went on for 2 years of vocational technical school at Northeast Iowa Tech, in Peosta, IA where he received an Associates Applied Science Degree in marketing management. Scott, after graduating, worked for Pamida Inc., Charles City, in management. Later he was transferred to Hibbing, MN where he worked until Aug 1984. Scott returned to Decorah Sep 1984 and works for the Anundsen Publishing Co in down town Decorah as a production worker.

Forrest Elmer Lang joined the Navy 15 Oct 1942. Training at Great Lakes Naval Station, Chicago for 4 weeks. Then had 10 days leave before going on to San Pedro, CA where he left for Pactific duty the day after Thanksgiving 1942. He was in ship repair at New Caledonia for 22 months before returning. Forrest was a Boatswain Mate 2/C at New Hebredes. Assigned to the USS Topeka, a light cruiser at Boston, MA and returned to Pacific duty in August 1944. He was in Tokyo Bay with Admiral Halsey’s 3rd Fleet as a Boatswain Mate 1/C. Forrest returned to the United States 16 Oct 1945 with the American Theatre, Asiatic Pacific Area ribbons and a good conduct medal. Forrest, after his discharge from the service, took one year of refrigeration and a half year of electrical schooling at the Commercial Trades School in Chicago. Forrest and IvaNell moved to Waterloo, IA where Forrest worked for 2 years at Hartliep Refrigeration before coming back to Decorah to establish his own business. Forrest started out his business in January 1949 as Lang’s Refrigeration Sales and Service. Operating out of a one car garage at his residence at 602 Winneshiek Ave. he sold refrigeration equipment to grocery stores, meat locker plants and taverns. The business started to grow and so did the need for a bigger work shop. In 1951 next to his one car garage Forrest built a new garage 30' x 60'. Forrest expanded into home freezers and milk can coolers for dairy farmers then bulk milk coolers. This was followed with pipe line milking systems and milking parlors. In 1962 Forrest and IvaNell (who was his secretary) made another decision for a move and put up a new building at 212 College Drive and named it Lang's Dairy Equipment. In 1976, after 28 years, Forrest and IvaNell sold the business to their oldest son, Kelly, and a partner, Bruce Hanson, and it became Lang’s Dairy Equipment Inc. Forrest was then semi-retired, working for Kelly and Bruce Hanson, selling dairy equipment. In the winters, Forrest and IvaNell would join the snow birds in Florida or Arizona for two or three months. On 3 Nov 1986, Forrest passed away at the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wl from complications of quadruple heart by-pass surgery. He was 66 years old. IvaNell continues to live in Decorah where she enjoys her family, friends, and craft activities.

Iva Nell Ginapp Lang graduated from Ossian Public School. She worked at a variety store and as a receptionist for a doctor in Decorah before her marriage. While her husband Forrest was in the Navy IvaNell lived and worked in Chicago as a statistical data clerk for the Teletype Corporation. Later she worked for Shure Brothers Microphone Company in Chicago. When IvaNeN's husband’s career led them to Waterloo she then kept busy as a housewife and caring for their 2 children, Kelly and Charlene, for that 2 year period. Later, the move was made back to Decorah and the start of her husband’s refrigeration business where she continued her work as a bookkeeper and homemaker until they sold their business in 1976.

Herman Lang was born 20 Jan 1862 in Germany. He married Kate Peck born 30 Nov 1873 in Garnivillo, IA. Kate (Peck) Lang had one brother and two sisters: August Peck, Tillie DeCou, and Emma Brown. Herman died 28 Jan 1915. Kate died 12 Sep 1932. They had five children: Arthur married Mary Kneeskern, Eldo married Hazel Meikle, Esther married Edgar Russett, Emma married Herman Snitker, Lucille married Lawrence Schultz.
